Este ensayo hist\u00f3rico busca dar protagonismo al bando realista, un grupo pol\u00edtico que ha sido tradicionalmente relegado en los relatos historiogr\u00e1ficos, los cuales suelen centrarse en los movimientos independentistas.<\/p><p>La autora realiza un profundo trabajo de archivo para reconstruir las din\u00e1micas sociales, econ\u00f3micas y pol\u00edticas que caracterizaron a las fuerzas realistas y contrarrevolucionarias. Sevilla Naranjo destaca c\u00f3mo, en casi todos los segmentos de la sociedad colonial\u2014desde las \u00e9lites y el clero hasta la poblaci\u00f3n ind\u00edgena y esclava\u2014existieron individuos y grupos que se opusieron a la causa independentista. A trav\u00e9s de un an\u00e1lisis detallado, el libro examina las motivaciones, composiciones y modos de operaci\u00f3n de estas fuerzas, ofreciendo una visi\u00f3n m\u00e1s equilibrada y completa del per\u00edodo de transici\u00f3n hacia la independencia.<\/p><p>La obra tambi\u00e9n explora temas como el clientelismo, el corporativismo y las relaciones de parentesco, as\u00ed como el trasfondo intelectual y socioecon\u00f3mico que sustent\u00f3 el realismo quite\u00f1o.
