Este libro se centra en la arqueolog\u00eda del valle del Upano, ubicado en la regi\u00f3n amaz\u00f3nica ecuatoriana, y presenta un an\u00e1lisis detallado de las ocupaciones humanas en esta \u00e1rea desde hace aproximadamente 2,500 a\u00f1os hasta la actualidad.<\/p><p>La obra combina investigaci\u00f3n arqueol\u00f3gica reciente con una narrativa accesible, acompa\u00f1ada de numerosas ilustraciones originales, como fotograf\u00edas de campo, dibujos y pinturas. A trav\u00e9s de este enfoque visual y descriptivo, el autor explora las din\u00e1micas culturales y sociales de las poblaciones precolombinas que habitaron el valle del Upano. Entre los temas destacados, se incluye el estudio de los mont\u00edculos de tierra construidos por las culturas Upano y Huapula, as\u00ed como el impacto de eventos naturales, como la erupci\u00f3n del volc\u00e1n Sangay, que influy\u00f3 en los patrones de asentamiento.<\/p><p>El libro tambi\u00e9n aborda la llegada de los Shuar y la posterior colonizaci\u00f3n de la regi\u00f3n por mestizos durante el siglo XX, ofreciendo una visi\u00f3n integral de la evoluci\u00f3n hist\u00f3rica y cultural del valle.
